The Ethiopian American Council (EAC) is a grassroots civic organization dedicated to bringing awareness to and advancing the social, political, and economic concerns of Ethiopian Americans nationwide.
Founded in 1997, EAC serves as a hub of information and a centralized channel of news and discourse for the Ethiopian American community. EAC provides resources and fosters a sense of civic duty in new Ethiopian immigrants to allow them to become valuable members of society.
EAC assists with the immigration process, and encourages the active participation of Ethiopian Americans in society by encouraging them to participate in the voting process and, when appropriate, to run for office. In addition to serving as a conduit between Ethiopian Americans and local and national officials and organizations, EAC works to protect the civil, political, social, and economic rights of Ethiopian Americans through lobbying for change on local and national levels.
EAC also brings public awareness to political, social, and humanitarian concerns facing Ethiopia today, while promoting strong ties between the United States and Ethiopia.
